CRIME
Woke up this morning, running late and I had butterflies because I had to go to court, but it was n`t for myself. I went with my son he got himself caught up with some guy who obviously was n`t a friend, but at the time he was in the midst of a criminal activity, so all the blame really can`t all fall on the courts. My son has taken responsibility for his actions and I suppose I will take some kick-back for my sons choices. Right now lets put that aside because I want to talk about the day in general.
Ok, they said court will start at 9 AM sharp we got going kind of late because my alarm clock did not go off and it was raining, I put my tie on, left my phone in the car, walked through the parking lot, we ended up on time anyway. We get our seats at 9 AM, the court room was kind of empty. The lawyers, state attorney`s public defenders and officials did not start coming in until 10:30 and the judge finally shows up about 10:55 like nothing else matters!
I find it offensive and rude when people get put in these positions of power and abuse it. Its never good when you put your life and freedom in the hands of a man or women (Judges) who may or may not have had a bad night an argument or big fight with their spouse or a certain kind of crime may trigger a feeling. Whats really crazy though is how we the people who come to court because we commit crime, we haven`t figured this out yet. We were there in this brand new state of the art court room with TVs, speakers, chandeliers, you know? The stuff that is seldom used, I could not help but think about all the homeless families, broken homes and the reasons why crime is what it is. How many fathers and sons are in prison together not necessarily in the same prison but at least in the same judicial system. I could not help but noticed there was not one other father there with his son.
Even though my son is 20 years old and considered a grown up, I still feel a level of responsibility. My son decides to take the plea deal for 2 years probation $500 fine because he knows he can`t win. So now he gets fingerprinted and they take a DNA sample the bailiff treats him like crap, literally curses him and acts like my son is a peice of garbage, because he (my son) wanted to know why they needed DNA. So now I`m thinking about this DNA thing! Question! If you have my DNA, is it possible to plant it someplace? I mean if you really want to do me wrong me and you have my DNA could it be planted? oh, by the way the white kid in the car actually got to drive away from the scene, while the black one got the felony. If the police are dirty then judges have to be too, Right? I`m just asking. Law of the land, I guess! If you are a cop, judge, correction officer etc and your reading this! No matter what people do they are still people. No matter what your job is you should treat people with some level of integrity, respect. And for all my young criminals, in order to stop doing time, paying fines and probation fees. All I can say is STOP because the jails, juvenile halls and prisons are full of the smartest criminals, so don`t think you wont get caught, cops go to school to learn what you do.
